What happens to your skin when you lose weight?

Written by <ADMINNICENAME> | Date: February 11, 2007 8:29 am | Permalink | Category:

Skin saggingSkin sagging is a common phenomenon when individuals lose weight extremely quickly. There are many sellers of creams, lotions or other potions that promise to tighten your skin again but those won’t work. You should know that skin is a more complex body organ that it might appear. It’s the largest organ of the human body. It contains of epidermis, dermis and the subcutaneous tissue. Each square inch of our skin contains 30 million cells.

But now let’s go to the real problem. Skin does not “tone up”. Muscles do. An unhealthy life style with lots of up and downs on your body weight comnbined with no exercise, bad food and drinking or ciggarettes will make your skin lose elesticity. But can this elesticity be regained? It is possible indeed. And we’re not talking about plastic surgery now. There are natural options like clean living, avoiding toxins, eating lots of fruit and vegetables on a regular basis, using mosturising creams and consumption of lots of water. And let us not forget a regular exercise at least 30 minutes per day.

If you don’t see significant improvement in 12 months you have two options. Be happy with how you look like or explore surgical options. But to minimize the risk of skin sagging, you should do your diets slowly, using the combination of healthy food, lots of exercise and a natural diet pill like ProActol. Your goal should be lose 30 - 60 pounds a year at most. This will prevent skin sagging and will keep your weight permanent.

Causes of Weight Gain

Written by <ADMINNICENAME> | Date: February 10, 2007 6:50 pm | Permalink | Category:

Fat BellyWeight gain can be really frustrating and usually it’s associated with eating too much. But other factors are often the reason for overweight. Even if you do exercise a lot and eat healthy, they can occur. The most common reason is if you are a pregntant woman. But some of other are also:

A medical condition
For many of us, a medical condition is often the case of being overweight. It can be Diabetes or some other serious illness. Maybe a new medication you’ve recently started to take causes it. A contraceptive pill is well known for adding some extra pounds to your body, so it might be worth switching these pills. The best advice would be to talk to your doctor which will give you an examination that could find the real reason.

You could be lacking essential fats
Most of us don’t realise that we in fact need some fats. Not all are bad and food like fish and olive oil contain these “healthy” fats. If you don’t have these you end up carving for fatty foods and that leads to overweight. So insure you always have these healthy fats in stock.

Food allergies
This is also a common cause of weight gain - allergies to certain foods. You might noticed that someone is alergic to dairy or nuts. These can be deadly, but in many cases they just cause weight gain and little nausea. So again, you should visit your doctor and do some test to see if you’re alergic to any food.

These are just a few reasons you could gain weight. Emotions also play a big role in it. You might be upset or angry and you start eating. And if you see any of these reasons affecting you, don’t forget about ProActol and his 27% fat binding. It will really help you lose weight long-term.

Chocolate & Weight Loss?

Written by <ADMINNICENAME> | Date: February 4, 2007 2:04 pm | Permalink | Category: ,

ChocolateA good news for all of us who can’t live without chocolate. It can help you lose weight by eating it. You must think I’m crazy, but read on. Cacao or pure chocolate contains chemicals which increase serotonin levels in our brain and supresses appetite. Increased serotonin levels give us a feeling of happines and it’s also an natural anti-depresant. Cacao also has many antioxidants and has properties of a natural aphrodisiac (which might helps your love life). There are also healthy minerals in it and mood-boosting compounds such as PEA, the love chemical.

But beware. You should (or MUST) eat only unrefined chocolate, because many comercial products containt lot of sugar, hydrogenated fats, mild and other additives which cancel the benefits of pure chocolate. In my experience I do get in better mood after eating some chocolate, so this must be true to some point. Eating too much commercial chocolate products won’t help your weight though, so keep it small and don’t forget to brush your teeth after the intake.

Appetite Suppressants - Ephedra

Written by <ADMINNICENAME> | Date: January 31, 2007 10:59 am | Permalink | Category:

EphedraEphedra is the first one of our series of Appetite Suppresants reviews, which will hopefully bring your more insights into such ingredients, which should but mostly don’t help you lose weight and might be harmful. You might also want to check Weight Loss Research a website dedicated to reviewing diet pills and making informative weight loss articles.

But let’s focus on Ephedra for now. Is the active ingredients used in many diet pills and weight loss supplements. Many of these products are advertised as ‘Thermo’, ‘Lean’ or ‘Fat Burners’. Since early 1990, the FDA has issued numerous warnings to consumers of diet products and supplements containing Ephedrine and we would recommend that you exercise extreme caution before consuming any products that contain the substance.
Ephedra contains of amphetamine-like substances. They have a powerful stimulant effect on the central nerve system and our hart too. They act nearly the same as ADRENALINE. It raises blood pressure, dilates bronchial muscles which might lead to irregular or rapid hearbeats and other side effects like insomnia, depression and rapid heart rate.

But it gets worse. If (hopefully not!) you take ephedra with combination of caffeine or other herbal stimulants, it can became life threatening. That’s why (according to Weight Loss Research), ephedra should be avoided because of those serious side effects.

The truth about losing weight on your stomach

Tight bellyDo you remember talking with your friends about that fat around the belly? Well, I can’t think of one of my friends that didn’t complain about that special area one or more times. Even skinny people are often unhappy with an extra pound on that part of the body.We all wish we could lose some fat there, but what does really help to lose belly fat?

One thing you should remember is, that it’s impossible to lose fat on one particular body part only, for example the belly. You will see comercials with those super ab rollers or even some creams that promise to lose fat around your belly, but forget them. That’s all nonsense. Even through lots of ab exercising, you won’t lose fat there. Sure, the muscles will form themselfs, but the layer of fat will stay. But what is the sollution to this problem you might ask?

It’s the combination of healthy food (vegetables, fruit, low fat foods) and cardio exercise (walking, running) plus muscle exercise like ab training, crunches etc. For a good figure you should be willing to exercise at least one and a half hour per day, believe me. And please do not eat those fast food fatty meals. They are no good for your belly fat.

Diet myths debunked

Written by <ADMINNICENAME> | Date: January 23, 2007 8:19 am | Permalink | Category:

9338_499414381.jpgHello fellow weightloss people. It is time to get some diet myths busted! First of all I would like to say that the basic idea of losing weight is that your food should containt less calories that you burn. It is all a matter of physics. If you intake more calories than you burn, you’ll get fatter.

One of these myths is that you replace your food with meals like Mypoplex, Slimfast or Eat-smart. These are all good low fat and high-protein sources, but they cannot replace a proper diet. They should never be used more than 4 weeks in a row. Your body needs proper food, like fruit, vegetables and meat. Yes, meat is also important. All that is also true for single-food diet. Don’t go more than a few weeks with this or you will damage your system (body). A low fat, high-protein diet is very popular in Hollywood slimming industry and nearly all superstars (movie stars and singers) are using it. But it’s not healthy for you in a long term.

You should also not be afraid of potatoes, bread and pasta. Yeah, they have lots of carbohydrates. But these are actually good for you, because they will stop your hunger with lower calorie intake than other foods. What brings fat to your body are SAUSAGES or BUTTER. These are FULL OF FAT. So, maybe you should avoid them (but not all the time).

Here’s nother myth. FAT IS ABSOLUTELY BAD FOR YOU. Well, it’s NOT. The body needs some fat in order to get important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K traveling through your system. And it bring you also an essential acid omega-3 and omega-6. These are healthy for your body.

And last but not least and this is my favourite myth is: A diet or an eating plan is enough to lose weigh - without any exercise. WRONG! Exercise is the most effective way to burn fat and extra calories that are stored in your body. Just sitting on your couch or desk chair all day long won’t do the trick. That’s why you should eat properly and exercise a lot. I recommend 3 - 4 times per week for an hour. It will do the trick!

Can you lose body fat by exercise alone?

Written by <ADMINNICENAME> | Date: January 20, 2007 4:51 pm | Permalink | Category:

Lose body fatOf course you can. But it will take quite a bit of time and effort to lose fat. And to convert one pound of body fat into calories, it’s 3500 calories (kcal). So, to burn one pound of fat, you can do one of these exercises:

- Walk quite quickly for about 35 miles
- Take a swim for about 6 hours
- Go out and dance in a night club for 12 hours
- Play golf for 12 hours (carrying own clubs)
- Go out and jog for 29 miles

But you should at the same time monitor your food intake, so that it’s not more than you burn. I know. I know - it sounds hard!

Patience is vital when you’re trying to burn fat via exercise

The exercises above shows us that it takes considerable effort to lose weight, or if you like, lose fat. That gives us the information, that losing fat takes time. Not a week, not a month - but 3, 4 or even more months of daily exercise. And remember, muscle is denser than fat. You might look thinner, but your weight will stay the same. And don’t forget stretching for 5 minutes before and after exercise.
